Danes is a rapidly growing coffee roasting and wholesale supply company that also operates a number of coffee shops and a full time training facility. Because of the range of services provided we were very interested in the expansion opportunities afforded by franchising.
We started work with a large firm specializing in franchising who could "do everything for us". It quickly became apparent that the result did not equate to the cost being incurred and accordingly we suspended our work on franchising.
We recently purchased the self paced discs, Franchise for Success, from the Franchise Institute and are very happy to date with the progress.
It is certainly helping us down the franchising road, but a real benefit at this early stage is the process of examining our company operations and reflecting on what we do right, what is important to our customers and why would someone buy coffee from us?
This self reflection has benefited the company and its operations immensely and in our minds has already justified the cost of the program.
